This video by Roy Dean does a terrific job of explaining the evolution. It shows how a technique so fundamental as an armbar can become a part of a flow and can come from anywhere. Rather than it simply becoming a technique, it becomes a piece of the puzzle.

By Understanding the difference between how a white belt and a black belt looks at an armbar, you can take that same understanding and apply it to nearly any aspect of BJJ.
