Joe Rogan Teaches GSP How to Kick

by Eric Pearch on February 3, 2011

Joe Rogan is an always entertaining ninja with a trick or two up his sleeves, and GSP is the super athlete that remains humble.

One thing that many people don’t know about Joe is that he is a legit Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Brown Belt under Jean-Jacques Machado. No easy task at all. He is also a Grand Champion in Tae Kwon Do, a high honor.

GSP needs no intro. He’s pretty much unmatched in athleticism and technique in the UFC, but he still manages to be incredibly humble.

Here’s the video with Joe Rogan teaching GSP how to kick. There’s something strange about seeing an announcer teaching a superstar how to fight, but there are some good details going on.

You can skip to 14:35 if you want to watch where the instructions start.

The main takeaway is to always strike through a straight line to keep your power.  When you go wide, you lose your power. For example, letting your elbows chicken wing up as you punch takes away the power from your hips.

I’m going to post up another instructional from Joe Rogan on the Facebook page.

That’s awesome that Joe is that powerful with his kicks. I had no idea that he knew how to fight like that.
