Jake Shields and Caio Terra Teach a Guillotine Sweep

by Tom Reynolds on April 21, 2011

Caio Terra and Jake Shields are two of the bigger names in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts right now. With Terra tearing up the world grappling circuits and Shields having an upcoming title fight in the UFC with Georges St Pierre, the two are a force to be reckoned with. They have long trained together and shot this video detailing a technique that every grappler and fighter should know.

Guillotine to Butterfly Sweep

Caio starts off by showing how to guillotine someone properly from the kimura. The two great details that he covers are inverting the hand and shifting the hips to finish the choke.

Next, they show the guillotine defense that a lot of people that a lot of people try where they tripod onto their feet to lay their weight into their opponent. Jake counters by shifting his hips to make room for a butterfly hook. He then sweeps directly into mount and posts out his hand.

Caio has a new series out titled: 111 Half Guard Jiu Jitsu Techniques with Caio Terra. I hear it’s the best half guard instructional out there, but I haven’t received it in the mail yet to confirm.
