Epic High-Level BJJ Match – Sergio Moraes x Eduardo Santoro

by Tom Reynolds on December 20, 2010

Eduardo Santoro is starting on the left and Sergio Moraes is starting on the right.  They are both world class grapplers.

This is an exciting match with a lot to learn from.  Here are a few of the highlights.

At 55 seconds, Sergio faking the guard pull to the single leg.

From 1:00 and on watch Sergio’s head placement to prevent the kimura and control the top position from half guard.  Using the head to keep your opponent flat is a great tool.

From 5:25 and on, Eduardo puts on a guard clinic.  Watch how he flows into the omoplata and Sergio’s slick escape.

Then study the armbar and how he flowed in the finish from 5:45 and on.

    Eric,

I’d love to see more stuff like this here; matches with some breakdown like that. Excellent.

I found it really helpful, you pointing out certain details I might have missed. I never really thought of it before, but that seems like a great way to teach this stuff online.
