Jiu-Jitsu Basics: Hips and Elbows from Mount

by Tom Reynolds on April 18, 2011

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu can be seen as an incredibly complicated sport. There are inverted guards, flying submissions, complicated guard passes and countless other techniques that can take any grappler away from what really matters, the fundamentals. This is a great video breaking down just that, two of the most important fundamentals any beginner or advanced grappler needs to know.

Hips and Elbows from Mount

Hips and Elbows are virtually everything in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and most martial arts when you break it down. Without getting heavy in philosophy, here is a quick video showing just how important the hips and elbows are from mount top or mount bottom. Check it out.

If you know anyone that is thinking about getting started with Mixed Martial Arts or Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, make sure to send them a link to this post.  It’s an essential video to watch for any beginner.
