A New Take on Taking the Back Mount

by Tom Reynolds on November 23, 2010

This has got to be one of the coolest ways to take the back that I have seen.  Some of this is similar to a few of the techniques that you’ll find in Jeff Glover’s Deep Half Guard and Eddie Bravo’s Twister instructionals. Ryan Hall really put together a great system on taking the back from a few positions through tight rolls and relatively new ways to control the legs.

Here Ryan is using a beautiful roll from deep half guard to the backmount at Grappler’s Quest:

Now an in depth description on how to take the back from a few different positions. Very high quality. Watch both videos a few times. It will pay off.

Thank you for putting this together as always. I’m not sure that at my old age I can pull back mount take off, but I’ll certainly try.
